Registration is now open for the annual Richmond Running Festival that raises money for local London charities and nonprofit groups. The weekend event is made up of several races that the whole family can participate in. Also, a fitness expo and music festival will be going on in Old Deer Park in conjunction with the races. This event has raised more than £2 million for charities in the area since its first year. You can choose to raise funds for the featured charity of the year, the British Heart Foundation, or you can donate to any charity or group that you would like to.
This year’s events will be held on Saturday, September 14th and Sunday, September 15th. Saturday’s events include the Kew Gardens 10k which will take place inside of Kew Gardens, and the pirate themed Richmond 5k and kids mile races which will all be held at Old Deer Park. All finishers of the 5k will receive a finishing medal and Nike t-shirt. On Sunday’s itinerary are the Richmond marathon and half marathon, and the Nike Family Funrun. The family run will take place in Old Deer Park. The marathons will begin at Kew Gardens and finish in Old Deer Park.
Various vendors will be set up in Old Deer Park throughout the weekend. Spectators can get into Kew Gardens to view the races for free, if they come prior to the start of the events. There will be water tables and first aid stations set up along the running courses. To register for the Richmond Runfest, or just get more information, check out their website.
